Sacrifice & Reflection

Message from the SuperintendentDear Canutillo community,

Next week is Fat Tuesday or “Mardi Gras,” a tradition started in medieval Europe in the 17th century. Today we celebrate with colorful parades and revelry while indulging in food and fun to kick off Lent and the Easter season.

Often during Lent, as a show of sacrifice, many give up something for 40 days. It is a time of deep personal reflection. May we all take the time to pause during the day to day hustle and be mindful of our blessings.

Our Canutillo High School Boys Basketball Team are 5A Bi-District champions advancing to play at the 5A Area Championship at Andrews High School. Congratulations to the hardworking team of players and coaches who always shoot for victory. Congratulations and good luck, Eagles!

Our Communications Department is seeing gold. The team took home 10 Gold Star Awards for an array of communications, including writing, videography, graphic design, marketing, branding and original art at the 2021 Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards. Congratulations to our communications team for always helping us shine so bright!

I want to encourage our District community and the greater Canutillo community to donate blood this coming Tuesday, March 1 at the Canutillo ISD sponsored American Red Cross blood drive at our Central Office 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. There is a national blood shortage, the worst in over the past 10 years. Our community has always been ready when called upon to lend a helping hand and we can all help build up the blood supply and save some lives.
