Recent developments in the online gaming industry have brought up safety concerns among parents, law enforcement and the District.

As augmented reality and real-time play games like Pokémon Go emerge in great numbers among young players, parents should use the game as an opportunity to teach broader safety lessons to kids. CISD Safety and Security Coordinator Carlos Carrillo reminds all players to avoid entering school district property or other property without permission, remember that city curfew is from 11 pm to 6 am, and never go alone.

“We want parents to be informed on the nature of the game and be aware of where their kids are at all times,” Carrillo said. “Have fun interacting with friends or family but always remember to be aware of your surroundings and respect others while catching your favorite Pokémon.”
